The Research Group Electronic
Business is part of the School of Business and Economics at RWTH
Aachen University and is closely associated with the computer, learn and teaching space (CLeVer) of the Faculty. CLeVer provides 18 state-of-the-art computer
workstations, WLAN and printer capabilities for students and has
a website of its own. Please find full details regarding the CLeVer
here
(in German).
In research and teaching we focus on diverse aspects
of Electronic Business which generally means the electronic support
of inter-organizational business processes through information
technology. 50 years ago -- at the initial stage of electronic
data processing -- several companies began to reorganize and automate
their inter-organizational business processes. The broad diffusion
of the Internet accelerated this process and more opportunities
for automating inter-organizational business processes arose.
From a scientific point of view we are trying to understand how
the organization of economic activities affects Electronic Business
systems and vice versa. Ultimately this will enable us to better
design and manage Electronic Business systems.
For further information concerning business information
systems at RWTH Aachen University please also visit the website
of the Institute
of Information Management and Operations Research (in German).
