Course Overview

The development and support of information systems (IS) in organizations is challenged by the social, political, and other managerial issues in organizations today. The issues are further exacerbated by the global arena and competitive environment that exists today involving traditional business models and evolving models centered on electronic business. At the same time, organizations often see IS as providing significant contributions to their overall success and performance, perhaps leading to a competitive advantage. This course will expose the student to the managerial and organizational environment and the role that IS often plays today in helping organizations achieve their goals through appropriate management and use of IS. Issues focusing on electronic business will be addressed.
